USGI Gerber Entrenching Tool

An entrenching tool (e-tool) is a handy item to have around, be it in your truck or attached to your ruck. You can dig, chop, or hell...use it as a field expedient toilet seat.

I use the Marine Corps issued Gerber e-tool. It is lighter and just as effective as the old style e-tool. My particular e-tool came with a coyote brown MOLLE sheath.

The main difference in the Gerber e-tool is that the handle is glass filled nylon, rather than aluminum. This makes the Gerber e-tool a light 53oz. rather than the 2.46lb weight of the old style e-tool. The blade of the Gerber e-tool is coated with an even, dark black coating of some kind. Even using this e-tool in the rocky desert, I have yet to expose metal.

If your old e-tool is worn down to a silver appearance, squeaky as hell, and just in general need of replacement, give the Gerber e-tool a try.

The IRS (Improved Rain Suit) Parka protects the user from the harshest of elements by utilizing an outer shell fabric that is waterproof and moisture vapor permeable.

Both the parka and trouser which comprise the Improved Rainsuit are constructed of the finest American-made fabrics and component parts. The outer shell fabric is waterproof and moisture vapor permeable which will release moisture from within the garment, while at the same time maintaining a waterproof barrier to the outside elements. All seams are covered with a sealing tape to ensure the waterproof integrity.
